Medtronic Employee Video

Due to confidentiality restrictions, the original video cannot be publicly shared. This case study focuses on the creative process, storytelling strategy, and production approach behind the project.

During my internship at Medtronic in 2023, I led the creation of a promotional video celebrating the 10th anniversary of an internal employee benefits program, Meifuhui. The program supports employees through three major benefit areas: healthcare coverage, travel protection, and learning support.

To bring the program to life in a more human and emotionally engaging way, I developed a story-driven video centered on three employees, each representing one core benefit area through their personal experiences. From concept development to filming, editing, and internal promotion, I managed the project end to end and transformed abstract policy information into a narrative that felt personal, credible, and memorable.

The Challenge

Employee benefits are often communicated through policy language, internal documents, or HR announcements, which can make them feel distant and easy to overlook. For the 10th anniversary of Meifuhui, the goal was not just to inform employees that these resources existed, but to remind them why they mattered in real life.

The challenge was to create a video that could:

  • explain the value of the program clearly

  • connect emotionally with employees

  • structure multiple benefit categories into one coherent narrative

  • feel authentic rather than overly corporate

Because the program covered very different types of support, I needed to find a storytelling format that would unify the message while keeping each part grounded in real human experience.

My Role

I owned the project across the full production pipeline, including:

  • shaping the video concept and narrative direction

  • identifying the storytelling structure for the three benefit pillars

  • interviewing three employees and developing their storylines

  • planning the shoot and directing the visual approach

  • filming and capturing interview footage

  • editing the final video and refining pacing, emotional flow, and transitions

  • supporting internal promotion and distribution of the final piece

This was a highly hands-on project where I worked as both a strategist and a maker, balancing communication goals with visual storytelling.

Outcome

The final video delivered a complete, story-driven narrative for the 10th anniversary campaign and helped communicate the value of the Meifuhui program in a more human-centered way. By grounding each benefit area in real employee experience, the project made the message more accessible, memorable, and emotionally resonant for internal audiences.

Beyond the final deliverable, the project demonstrated how internal communications can move beyond information-sharing and become a form of meaningful storytelling.
